Spoiler Alert! It's Not About the Food with Katie Barbaro, OTR/L
Manage episode 294924393 series 2832586
In this episode, I am joined by Katie Barbaro, OTR/L an intuitive guide and creativity doula with a background in occupational therapy, trauma-informed yoga, and improv & standup comedy. She is the author of “Fed Up: An Illustrated Guide to Food Freedom,” a cartoon-based memoir about her experience recovering from disordered eating and discovering her true self, creativity, and spirituality on the other side. In the book she (quite literally) illustrates her own process of shining light into the darkest areas of life. Katie’s mission is to remind you how fun it is to be YOU. (It’s so fun!)
Topics Discussed:
• Using your voice to dismantle the power of shame.
• Breaking free from the identity of one’s distorted thoughts by taking them out of your head and onto paper.
• Accepting that wherever you are at this moment is the exact place to reach the next level of recovery.
• The absence of “noise” in recovery.
• The joy from accepting your true self, regardless of the messiness.
• How the principles of Intuitive Eating can extend past your relationship with food and into a healthy relationship with self.
• Changing your mindset about self can begin by overcoming limiting beliefs around food.
• The upcoming release of Katie’s book “Fed Up: An Illustrated Guide to Food Freedom”
