According to the CDC, suicide has been a growing health problem and leading cause of death for many groups since 1999, however, there are professionals in the field working hard to educate communities about mental health and prevent suicide deaths while promoting the importance of seeking professional help for mental health care. In this episode, Zach and Brandon are joined by Daniel Bennett, a suicide prevention specialist from Summit County, Ohio, to discuss the current climate of suicide prevention, how to get involved, and what you need to know to support yourself, your friends, your family, and your community.
About Daniel Bennett:
Daniel works as the Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator for Greenleaf Family Center and serves as vice-chair of the Summit County Suicide Prevention Coalition with 10 years of school and community based suicide prevention experience. Yearly, he provides prevention education and help seeking skills training to thousands of individuals. Daniel is a certified QPR instructor, Master Trainer for Signs of Suicide, and is trained in both Sources of Strength and Working Minds prevention programs. Currently, he lives in Barberton with his wife and two children.
