Ever had a gut feeling that a certain patient might not be the best fit for you? Yep, we’ve all been there! In this episode of The Clinical Entrepreneur, we’re diving deep into the art of spotting, managing, and - when needed - letting go of those clients who just aren't the right match for your practice. It’s not always easy, but saying “no” can be the best thing for your business and your sanity! 💆♀️ Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of why you may need to release a client back “into the wild” and how doing so can actually help you make space for the right people to come through your doors. We’re covering: ✅ How to spot early warning signs that a prospective patient isn’t a good fit ✅ Key screening questions to help “weed out the crazy” (yes, that’s a thing!) ✅ Why setting boundaries is key to a happy, stress-free practice ✅ Tips for gracefully saying “no” without burning bridges 🔥 ✅ The importance of networking with other practitioners to create a referral system You’ll leave this episode feeling empowered to take control of your patient relationships, maintain a happy office, and protect your time and energy for the clients who truly align with you. 🙌 Here’s What You’ll Learn: ✨ Red flags to watch for during initial consultations - From unrealistic expectations to “Dr. Google” diets, I’ll teach you how to spot those early indicators that a patient may not be the best match for your style of practice. ✨ How to protect your time and energy - Let’s face it, life’s too short to be dealing with patients who drain your energy and don’t follow through. Learn how to set boundaries and keep your practice running smoothly. ✨ Network with local practitioners - Build a referral network so you can confidently release patients who aren’t a good fit and direct them to someone who might be better suited to their needs. ✨ It’s okay to say no! - Remember, when you say yes to the wrong person, you’re saying no to someone who might actually be your ideal client. Learn to embrace the power of “no” in a way that feels compassionate and aligned with your mission. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Set clear boundaries early on: From screening calls to managing expectations, nip potential conflicts in the bud by setting clear expectations from day one. ✨ 2️⃣ Don’t be afraid to say no: It's not just about preserving your peace, it’s about ensuring that you have space for the patients who truly need your unique approach. 💯 3️⃣ Develop a referral system: Not everyone is a fit for you - and that’s okay! Having a solid network of practitioners for referrals means you can feel good about sending patients where they’ll thrive. 👥 4️⃣ Trust your gut: If something feels off during your initial meeting with a patient, it probably is. Your intuition is often your best guide when it comes to managing client relationships. 🙌 Why It Matters: Saying no to difficult clients isn’t just about avoiding stress - it’s about creating a space in your practice for the clients who will benefit most from your care. By setting boundaries, creating a referral system, and trusting your gut, you’ll build a thriving practice that brings you joy and serves your clients at the highest level. Feeling like your business is a bit all over the place? It often seems like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day and far too many loose ends that need your attention, right? But here’s the good news! Whether you're juggling patient appointments, managing your team, or just trying to keep up with your growing practice, having a series of checklists can save the day! 📝 In this episode of The Clinical Entrepreneur, I’m diving into one of my favorite ways for keeping things organized: office checklists. And trust me, they’re not just for the Type A personalities out there (you know who you are 😆). Even if you’re more of a free-spirited, creative type like me, a well-crafted checklist can be a complete game-changer for your practice. Here are just a few of the benefits: Greater consistency ✅ Fewer things fall through the cracks ⏳ Decreased errors 🙌 And a whole lot more sanity! Whether you’re a solo practitioner or you have a robust full team, having a library of checklists will streamline your office, enhance your efficiency, and improve patient care - all with just a few simple checklists! Here’s What You’ll Learn: ✨ Why your brain LOVES a good checklist (spoiler: it feels good to check things off! ✔️) ✨ How checklists can improve consistency and cut down on errors in your practice. ✨ The four types of checklists every practitioner needs (yes, even you!). ✨ Easy ways to implement them without overcomplicating things. ✨ How checklists create accountability and reduce stress for both you and your team. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Start Small: Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Begin with a simple checklist (like new patient intake or follow-up) and refine from there. 🛠️ 2️⃣ Make It Yours: Your checklist should fit your practice and your workflow. Not someone else’s. 3️⃣ Accountability is Key: Use checklists to track what gets done and ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. 📋 4️⃣ Keep It Simple: Don’t overcomplicate! Your checklist should be a one-pager (no size 4 font required! 👓). 5️⃣ Bonus Tip: Leverage AI tools like ChatGPT to help you craft the perfect checklist for your needs. 🤖✨ Why Checklists Matter: Running a wellness practice is no small feat, but it doesn’t have to feel like you’re constantly behind the eight ball. By incorporating a few well-designed checklists into your daily routine, you’ll keep your team on track, reduce mistakes, and even save time. Who doesn’t want that? Ever feel like you’re juggling all the supplements, protocols, and patient needs, and still wondering where to start? I’ve got you covered! Today, we’re talking about the five foundational clinical targets that will transform your patient outcomes. Think of these as your go-to shortcuts when the patient’s case feels a bit overwhelming or you just need a place to begin. Whether you’re dealing with tricky patients who seem to react to everything or you’re just feeling that good old imposter syndrome creep in, these clinical targets will help you confidently guide your patients back to health. 🩺 Here’s What You’ll Learn: 🌱 Upper Digestion: Why upper digestion (hello, bitters!) is the number one place to start and how to address hidden issues like asymptomatic reflux. 🧘♀️ Stress Management: The power of adaptogens in managing today’s never-ending stress and anxiety. 🥑 Fat Breakdown: How supporting bile production and fat breakdown ensures your patients are absorbing all those essential fat-soluble nutrients. 🥩 Protein and Amino Acids: Ensuring your patients have enough essential aminos to support everything from muscle recovery to immune function. 💊 Vitamins & Minerals: Why everyone needs a good multi-vitamin and mineral supplement (and Ronda’s top recommendation). Plus, we’ll talk about two bonus game-changers: liver detoxification and parasite cleanses. These may not be your everyday recommendations, but trust me, once you see the results, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start these sooner. 🧪 Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Start with Upper Digestion Most patients have upper digestive issues, even if they don’t admit it. Supporting the stomach with digestive bitters (like Gentian) or, for those who are more sensitive, parotid support is key. 🌿 2️⃣ Manage Stress with Adaptogens Stress is real, and adaptogens like the ones from Gaia can make a world of difference for patients who have difficulty navigating the stressors of life. 🧘♀️ 3️⃣ Support Fat Breakdown Ensuring healthy bile flow for proper fat digestion by adding in choline-rich foods or supplements is essential. 🥚 4️⃣ Prioritize Protein and Amino Acids Give your patients the right fuel with nine essential amino acids, which can help them thrive, especially if their digestion is a bit off. 🍗 5️⃣ Don't Skimp on Vitamins & Minerals Everyone’s deficient in something these days! Make sure your patients are covered with a high-quality vitamin and mineral supplement. 💊 Bonus Tips: Make sure to address liver detoxification and consider incorporating a parasite cleanse. These can be real game-changers. 🦠 Here’s where you can find the support you need: Clinical Academy – Dive into Ronda’s in-depth clinical education to sharpen your skills and improve patient outcomes. Have you ever felt like you're winging it in your practice, just waiting for someone to call you out and say, "You are a fake, a phony, and you have no business doing what you do. Who do you think you are, acting like you know how to get people well?” 😅 Well, you’re not alone! This week, we're diving into the not-so-secret secret that every practitioner faces at some point: imposter syndrome. Ronda gets real and shares why it's so common (even for those of us who look like we have it all together) and, more importantly, how to navigate it when it shows up.💡 Whether you're brand new to the wellness game or a seasoned practitioner, imposter syndrome can sneak up on you and keep you from fully owning your brilliance. But today, Ronda’s breaking down the mindset shifts and strategies you need to silence that inner critic and show up confidently in your practice. You’ve got this! 💪 Here’s What You’ll Learn: 😬 The sneaky ways imposter syndrome can show up in your practice (and why you're not alone in feeling this way). 🧠 How imposter syndrome has less to do with your skills and more about how you see yourself. 💸 Ronda’s personal experience with imposter syndrome (even with a seven-figure practice!) and why it still creeps in. 🌟 Practical strategies to shift your mindset, embrace your wins, and step into your role as the expert you are. 💬 The power of community and why having a supportive tribe is a game-changer for kicking imposter syndrome to the curb. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Imposter Syndrome Is Normal. Every practitioner feels it, whether they're just starting out or have been in the game for years. It's all about how you perceive yourself. 2️⃣ You Are Enough. You don't have to be perfect or know everything. As long as you know a bit more than your patients, you're effectively the smartest person in the room. 3️⃣ Celebrate Your Wins. Keep a "win journal" closeby (even if you record them as a note on your phone!) to remind yourself of all the amazing things you are doing with your patients. This gives you the ammo to talk back to your imposter self and tell it to get lost. 4️⃣ Find Your People. Don’t try to do it all alone. Lean on other practitioners for support, advice, and the encouragement you need to remember that you are someone’s health hero. 5️⃣ Shift the Narrative. Instead of focusing on what you don’t know, remind yourself of what you do know. “I am knowledgeable. I am capable. I’ve got this." When imposter syndrome shows up, remember: 🌟 Recognize and Acknowledge It - Awareness is the first step toward shifting your mindset. 🌟Reframe Your Thoughts - Instead of dwelling on what you don’t know or what didn’t go well, focus on the fact that you’re always learning and growing. 🌟 Celebrate Your Progress - Look back at how far you’ve come since you first dipped your toe in the functional nutrition water and give yourself some well-deserved credit. Here’s where you can find the support you need: 🤝 Clinical Mastery with Ronda Nelson - a Facebook group full of your peers who are ready to provide the support you need and a greater sense of community. 🩺 Clinical Academy - this is the best investment you can make for yourself when it comes to clinical education. Many years ago, my daughter was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Yes, it was as devastating as it sounds. 💔 But through a miraculous turn of events and a supernatural miracle, she overcame the odds and her journey led me to become passionate about how to help the body become strong and resilient, despite the odds. 🙏🏼 But I learned that time is not always on our side. Sometimes, the cancer is so advanced that there simply isn’t enough time to provide the body with the support it needs to return to optimal health which is heartbreaking. 😞 Too often, people want to throw everything they can at cancer, thinking more is better. But that isn’t always the best approach. Without a plan, treatments and radical supplement protocols can be fractured, disconnected, and most importantly, expensive. 💸 While I don’t treat cancer directly, in this episode, I’m sharing my thoughts about how to support these types of patients with a simplified approach, allowing their bodies to rebuild one day at a time. 💪 And one of the game-changers when it comes to supporting patients struggling with cancer is vitamin B17. Found in humble seeds like apricots, apples, and cherries, this little powerhouse has shown promising results for several types of cancer. Although the focus isn’t on “curing” the cancer, we can certainly help the body make faster progress by providing essential nutrients that not only optimize health but ‘may’ have an impact on how quickly one could recover from said condition. (How’s that for sideways speak?) It’s really not that difficult when you think about it. Less is always more.🌟 In this episode you’ll hear: 👉 The benefits of incorporating B17 from natural sources into your cancer care regimen. 👉 Effective ways to manage stress with adaptogens, enhancing your overall well-being. 👉 Key strategies for optimizing digestion and nutrient absorption, crucial for fortifying the body's defenses against illness. You don’t know what you don’t know. And nothing could be truer when it comes to ensuring your HIPAA policies are up-to-date and your practice is compliant with the loooong list of requirements. It’s one thing to be proactive and try to ensure your patient data is protected, but what happens when your work email gets hacked or you have an employee that accidentally posts something that violates patient confidentiality? The thought of that put fear in my bones which is why I volunteered for a HIPAA audit. Yep, I decided to work with a HIPAA advisor to find out the things I didn’t know - but needed to know - in order to make sure I am doing my due diligence to protect patient information. And secretly, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to walk into a trap or landmine down the road that I never saw coming, like communicating with patients over email. Yikes! In this episode of The Clinical Entrepreneur, I'll be sharing important insights from my conversation with a top-notch HIPAA attorney on how to ensure you (and your patients) are protected! 🧑⚖️ The stakes are high—legal repercussions, ethical dilemmas, and potential damage to our practice’s reputation. Join me as we tackle these essential topics, ensuring our practices thrive in safety and our patients feel secure and valued. 💖 In this episode, you’ll discover: 👉 Effective ways to manage patient communication preferences while staying HIPAA-compliant. 👉 The importance of obtaining consent for non-secure communications and how it can protect both you and your patients. 👉 Essential steps to verify and update patient information to maintain compliance. 👉 Strategies to empower your patients and enhance their trust by prioritizing their privacy.
