There’s not a single person in this world that the devil doesn’t bother. For the Christian, there isn’t a person that the devil doesn’t say they mean nothing to the next. There is a day coming when we all will die. At the point of our death, we will be judged for what we did in the flesh. We will all stand in front of God and give an account. Eternity is a long, long time to live for nothing.

There are some things that we know about God. There are also some things that we know about our flesh. For a saved person, the flesh is simple a tabernacle for God to dwell in. We know when the flesh dies we will have another house. This other house is eternal and is not built by man but by God. What we live in currently is at best a fragile pot of clay. What happens to you when you die? A promise is that we will all die.

A Car.

Pastor’s life is like a car, a 1971 Chevy Vega. If he had it back he would have to constantly have to fix it up, paint it, etc. However, at some point, his car will become unfixable. It will then be junked and placed into a pit to turn into rust and dust.

Everyone knows that a vehicle is temporary. No matter how expensive the vehicle was it will become nothing at some point in its lifespan. These cars are like our lives.

Have you ever been going on a distant trip and getting closer to your destination? Once you know you’re within 5 miles of your destination you begin to drive faster. This is the same feeling that the flesh has when we get older and closer to death.

Our desire is not to die, but to live. The desire of the saved is to be with the Lord, to live. Eternal clothing of God’s presence. The only way to be clothed like this is to be saved, born again. Being a good person is as lost as being a murder.

When a saved person talks about dying it’s not about wanting to die but the excitement to be with God for eternity. We can’t give up, we must keep going.

Our assurance in keeping on keeping on.

  1. God has been preparing for you to cross into Heaven ever since you got saved. He is preparing you to leave this flesh. The longer He works in you the more excited you become because eternity is just around the bend. When you were saved, He purchased you. At some point in your living life, He will come to take what is His.
  2. Once saved He gives you the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of you. The one thing that we need more than anything is the free will of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When the Spirit shows up we become 10 feet tall and bulletproof. This makes it all the more to be with God.

In verse 6 we see and we know that as long as we are alive in the flesh we are absent from being with God. When we get older and closer to the end of our life there might be a time we would just die. Either we are absent or present we must never give up. We should always want to please the Lord, be accepted of us. We don’t want to show up at His feet and see Him just shake His head at us. We should want to say to us, “Well done.” We can’t work our ways into Heaven however our job (work) is to see and show others the way to be saved.

Does your employer have tolerance for your unwillingness to do your job? We follow those rules because we want to remain employed. However, when it comes to God we tend to not do our best for Him.

At the end of your life, you will face judgment. Whether good or bad you will be held accountable for what you did or didn’t do. At the judgment, there will be many show up that will claim that they worked for God. Yet, they are lost and Hell will be their home for eternity. Ultimately we shouldn’t want to give up because we should want to please Him.
