Genesis 24:1-67
BIG IDEA
Genesis 24 encouraged Israel to entrust itself for its existence to the Lord’s providential care, so also, Jesus encourages the church to entrust itself for its existence to God’s providential care.
FOUR similarities between the marriage of Isaac and Rebekah and the church today:
- Just as Abraham wanted a bride for his son, so God the Father chose to provide a bride for His beloved Son. (vv.1-9)
- The servant did not speak about himself but about his master and his riches. (vv. 10-49)
- Like Rebekah had to make her choice of Isaac, we have to make our own choice of Jesus. (vv.49-60)
- As Rebekah and Isaac became one in marriage, so the church becomes one with Jesus Christ through our salvation. (vv. 61-67)
