Mistress Ferr presents Ariana with a mysterious tooth to help her connect with Vecna. Verity says farewell to her estranged brother and before the party makes their way to the Fortress of Memories to face the will of the Raven Queen. The team helps comfort souls as they departed the Shadowfell and transitioned to what lies beyond.

Each party member offers up a powerful memory The Raven Queen for safe passage, causing everyone to share in each other’s pain. Once emotionally drained, they enter the fortress where Lenore meets The Raven Queen for the first time. The party learns about a curse that afflicts Lenore and all Shadar Kai, and are confronted by its physical manifestation on her body. The Raven Queen promises to ease the curse by sharing it among others, leaving Lenore, Brillia and Kos uniting their souls to lighten Lenore's burden.

Tabbi gets a glimpse into the fate of his father through the voice of a raven which gives him some small comfort. Finally the party returns to the Material Plane and parts ways with their new friend and planar tour guide, Fennir.

Dragging themselves out of the chaos from their royal assassination, Verity, Elly and Ariana are in mourning. Reclaiming her title, Princess Verity faces her need to repent for the murders in her past. Elly leaves behind the man she loves to find what remains of her people, long thinking them dead. Ariana struggles with what it means to be both Penny and Anisha, as her mind merges with that of a villager she was unable to save.

They are joined by new allies, Lenore, Taabi and Brilia. Lenore, a follower of the Raven Queen, finds herself drawn to helping these lost young women, but holds secrets that may change the meaning of magic. Taabi, a nomad who will do anything to survive, also seeks the secrets of the dead. Brilia, a former housewife turned adventurer who learned her warlock abilities to protect her partner, Kos.
