Jade Purple Brown is an artist and entrepreneur, whose client list includes Sephora and Drew Barrymore, her colorful and retro work is a true representation of what makes her her. Born in Waukegan, Illinois Jade’s interests have always been visual, whether she was drawing or devouring fashion magazines, her interests were always aligned with fashion and beauty, and the introduction of Tumblr was a gateway to new references and new discoveries.
Deciding to attend college for fashion marketing, she learned that styling as a career wasn’t for her, but when she was introduced to InDesign and the rest of the Adobe suite, something inside of her was unlocked. She knew what she wanted to do and instead of switching majors she decided to focus on teaching herself the core skills of design.
After college, Jade moved back home once those refund checks dried up, and studied people in design that she really admired, using their portfolios as a guideline to putting her own together. With the power of the (ever so slept on) Linkedin, she got her first job as an art director at Jim Beam. With just retail experience, she walked in, and learned completely on the job, and despite the clash of styles from her personal style to the very dark masculine style of Jim Beam, she held her own.
