“Yachting is for the tough ones, no room for softies.” This is a phrase I often see in Social Media comments concerning yacht crew expressing their frustrations and how they have been mistreated. Bullying and cyberbullying are rarely taken seriously. And onboard is often dismissed as just “banter.”
When not dealt with, this behavior can create an unpleasant and, in some extremes circumstances, a deadly scenario for the victim. In a recent PYA survey, 20% of the crew said they had experienced bullying, but I suspect this percentage is higher. Today on Uncensored Sally, a second stew joins us to share her story on how she has been dealing with this type of behavior. Tune in and be reminded of what is ok and not ok.
