Northeast Mississippi Community College president Dr. Ricky G. Ford and Executive Vice President Dr Craig-Ellis Sasser sit with Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Liz Roark to talk about the start of the academic year at one of the nation's top community colleges. Ford discusses a recent announcement from the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in the state of Mississippi that named Northeast the top community college in preparing its students for life at an institute of higher learning. Northeast transfers and graduates routinely score higher than native students at four-year colleges and universities. Not only did Ford praise Northeast, but the veteran educator gave credit to the entire community college system for preparing students for the road ahead. Northeast students routinely had grade point averages higher than those who started out at a four-year college or university. Sasser comes on board to talk about the college's CORE Learning Outcomes and how that has helped prepare students when they choose to not only transfer to an institute of higher learning but seek out employment in the workforce. In the final segment, Ford gives a rundown of the Northeast News, including Meet the Tigers, the opening of the football season and many more events happening at Northeast.
