“We don't want Idaho to have a bad reputation. This is our home state. We love our home state. It's beautiful. We pride ourselves on our nature. We pride ourselves on our wildlife. And instead, we are continuing to do things that are… that are sickening.” - Ella Driever In 1995, wolves were reintroduced to central Idaho, and in 2003 a Boise High school called Timberline officially adopted a local wolf pack. Throughout the 2000, students went on wolf tracking trips and in their wolf packs range. But in 2021, Idaho's legislature passed Senate Bill 1211, 1211 allows Idaho hunters to obtain an unlimited number of wolf tags, and it also allows Idaho's Department of Fish and Game to use taxpayer dollars to pay private contractors to kill wolves. That means bounties on wolves, including on public lands. And in 2021, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission expanded the wolf hunting season and hunting and trapping methods. So it's not too surprising to learn that also in 2021, the Timberline pack disappeared. The students, the ones that cared about wolves, at least, were devastated. Last summer I went to D.C. with some of the Species Unite team for a wolf rally on Capitol Hill. While I was there, two young women gave a talk about what happened at Timberline in 2021. Their names are Ella Driver and Sneha Sharma. They both graduated from Timberline High School and were there when their wolf pack disappeared. Please, listen and share.…

×Ken and Leo spent the last episode discussing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offseason changes, but they avoided talking about one specific topic. Darrelle Revis. So for this episode, the guys talk about the decision to cut Darrelle Revis after failed attempts to trade him. Where do the Bucs go from here without one of the best players of this generation? Did the Buccaneers make the right move in simply cutting Revis? Have they done enough with other free agent signings to make up for losing the best player at corner in the NFL? If you thought Ken sounded upset in the last episode, just wait until you listen to this one!…
Ken and Leo are back to discuss all of the changes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now that the initial flurry of roster moves have been made during the 2014 free agency frenzy. The guys consider the addition of Michael Johnson, and if he can be the elite pass rusher that Lovie Smith wants in his defense. Can Clinton McDonald give the Buccaneers their money's worth as an interior disruption on passing downs? They also consider Alterraun Verner, and while not comparing him to any previous Buccaneers (that comes in another podcast), the guys discuss the playmaking ability and contract of the Bucs' newest defensive back. (Note: This podcast was recorded before Evan Dietrich-Smith was signed.) (Note: Discussion of Darrelle Revis and the impact of his departure will happen on the next podcast.)…
Ben Natan of WithTheFirstPick.com joined Leo for a special episode of the podcast to discuss the NFL Draft and some of the prospects that he likes, and doesn't like in this year's class. The guys begin by discussing the top quarterbacks in this draft, as Ben reveals the one quarterback (and only one quarterback) he'd take with a top-10 pick. Ben and Leo then discuss the other options the Buccaneers will have at the seventh spot in the draft. Can Khalil Mack fit the Buccaneers' defense? Which tackle is better, Jake Matthews or Greg Robinson? And is Sammy Watkins a sure-fire star in the NFL who is ready to have an "elite" impact? Finally, the guys discuss some of Ben's favorite mid to late round players, to give you some insight into some less-talked about players who may surprise you in the NFL.…
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveiled a new logo and helmet this past week, but as Ken and Leo discuss on this episode of the podcast, that won't be the last change the Buccaneers make this summer. Discussions are raging on among Buccaneer fans about Donald Penn, Carl Nicks, Davin Joseph and the Buccaneers' offensive line. What do the guys think about the disappointing front line for the 2013 Bucs? Ken and Leo discuss Penn's level of play, Joseph's contract and Carl Nicks' injury status, and look ahead to the NFL Draft and if adding a left tackle via the draft makes sense.…
Ken and Leo are back with another episode of the podcast, and they kick things off by discussing the teams' upcoming logo/helmet change. Will the current uniform be a "throwback?" by the end of the week? As for the rest of the podcast, we will issue this warning. There will be Mike Glennon talk. A lot of it. And it's not positive. What do the Buccaneers have in Mike Glennon, and what are others seeing in him that the writers of The Pewter Plank don't? Given some recent praise for Glennon by other media outlets, the guys give their honest take on the Bucs' starting quarterback. Bruce Gradkowski, Bucco Bruce and Blaine Gabbert all make an appearance on this episode of the Pewter Plank Podcast.…
It's been a relatively busy week in Tampa Bay as the Buccaneers have made some moves, and the Pewter Plank podcast is back to discuss it all. Ken and Leo begin the discussion by talking about Sammy Watkins, one of the most talked about draft prospects for the Buccaneers this season. Is he really the answer for the Buccaneers' offense? Or is he just another Troy Williamson? The guys also take a moment to discuss the Mike Williams situation. What's his future with the Buccaneers? And finally, they break the news that happened this week, and discuss the release of Gabe Carimi and Derek Landri, and the signing of Mike Kafka.…
In this episode of the Pewter Plank Podcast, Ken and Leo discuss the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and how the Buccaneers can build a strong team like the Seahawks and make a run at a title. How does the Tampa Bay defense compare to Seattle's? And in the areas where the Buccaneers lack, how do they reach the level of the Seahawks? The guys talk about Russell Wilson, Mike Glennon, roster changes and Michael Vick. All this and more in this episode of the Pewter Plank podcast.…
It's been a while since the last podcast, so Ken and Leo take some time to recap all of the news relating to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The guys discuss the new general manager, Jason Licht, and consider what his addition will mean to the team. How will he work with new head coach Lovie Smith? The guys also run through the defense, and consider the future at every position. Will there be changes on defense under a new head coach, and where do the Buccaneers need the biggest upgrade? Finally, the guys give their Super Bowl picks, and talk about a prop bet that Ken believes will be sure to win.…
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new coach, and the new GM has yet to be announced. So Ken and Leo have begun the process of looking back on the 2013 season, and considering where the Bucs must improve to raise their record from 4-12. The guys talk about the players on offense who are set to return, and which ones should be let go. Should Carl Nicks be retained by the Buccaneers? How about his fellow guard Davin Joseph? Leo gives some horrible gambling advice, along with some draft and free agent talk and more on the episode of the Pewter Plank Podcast.…
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new head coach, so Ken and Leo are back in action to tell you what they think about the new leadership in Tampa Bay. Is Lovie the right man for the job? Can he bring the Buccaneers back to the playoffs? The guys give their opinions on Smith and his history as a coach, and how he'll translate to the Buccaneers. With Lovie Smith comes a new coaching staff, so who else will be on the sideline in Tampa Bay? And finally, Leo took a look at Blake Bortles, and shares his thoughts on UCF's quarterback and how he might fit with the Bucs.…

There has been plenty of big news in Tampa Bay over the past week, with the firing of head coach Greg Schiano and the reported hiring of Lovie Smith. Was it time to move on from Greg Schiano? And if so, is Lovie the right choice? Leo and Joe also discuss Jeff Tedford and what the offense will look like under a new regime. Can a college coach call the right plays in the NFL? Ken and Leo are back with another podcast, and this week, they get serious about the future of the franchise. Has he assembled the right roster during his time in charge? How about the coach? Is Greg Schiano the problem with the 2013 Buccaneers? With Black Monday approaching, will the former Rutgers head coach keep his job for next season? All that plus Jeff Garcia, Ken not liking Peyton Manning, and more on this episode of the Pewter Plank Podcast.…
