Negativity is like a bad flu or an epidemic. It always generates in a point and only spreads like bad virus from one person to another. The best way to not let it spread is by containment. That is just extinguishing at the source or becoming the end point of it. Being stoic is a mannerism that help not spread negativeness because their minds transcend beyond “people” and petty issues.
