Welcome back to another Tech For Good Live podcast. Our plan for the show this week is to spread delight as we highlight just how deep COVID misinformation goes. We talk excitedly about the league table of trust, and with a joie de vivre we discuss digital security in China.

Hosting this show this time around is Tom Passmore and he’s joined by Greg Ashton.

Our special guest is David Higgins, variously CTO for the original Learndirect online learning platform, Programme Director for the NHS Care Record, Security Cleared Odd-Bod at the Home Office and FCO, Programme and Security Director for the 2nd Generation UK Smart Meters Network, Cabinet Office High Risk programme reviewer, occasional CNI Security consultant and all round advisor for technical and security things. That's a lot of things.

This week’s topics:

Stat of the week:

Majority of covid misinformation linked to just 12 people - The Guardian

It seems the claims of a culture war in the UK are being exaggerated by the press and public figures - Ipsos

The Express provides an example of how this story can be twisted to say the opposite

Charity news of the week:

Independent study carried out by Yonder, finds that charities are among the most trusted groups in society, third only after doctors and the police - GOV.UK

Tech news of the week:

Digital security is an increasingly hot topic with several countries moving to sanction China for a Microsoft back earlier this year.

UK and allies accuse Chinese state-backed group of Microsoft hack - The Guardian

Ransomware is classified as a threat to National Security (go figure eh?)

Ken McCallum (Dir Gen Security Services address) on how cyber is now an undeclared war. - MI5

Wanted: State-backed bandits planning cyberattacks on US infrastructure. Reward: $10m - The Register

And finally

An article written by a cat - Kotaku
