She has worked in Hawai'i, Australia, Southeast Asia, Mexico and Central America gaining experience in cafes as well as in the agricultural aspects of coffee. Madeleine's passion for education led her to Pacific Coffee Research on the Big Island of Hawai'i, a women-owned business that offers educational opportunities in the coffee industry for various audiences, aiming to increase appreciation for coffee through understanding its journey from farm to cup. She also holds a Q Arabica Grader license from the Coffee Quality Institute, qualifying her as a professional coffee taster, a role that requires a mindful and focused approach to evaluating coffee in multiple categories.
