Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!
This week we have another entry in the official Red Rooster retroactive game of the year awards! This episode continues our foray into the 2000's as we approach the middle! PS2 is the dominant force on the scene, Microsoft has successfully launched their giant sized Xbox console (along with a giant controller too!) and Nintendo returns with their first optical media based console with the Gamecube! We start to see a trend of sequels starting to hit, but the good news is that many of them are as good as or even better than their original entries. The video game industry has truly changed at this time and is now more closely starting to resemble what we have today in 2023. Some significant franchises got their starts in these years, and would go on to become the biggest sellers of today. Tune in to find out who the winners are from 2003 - 2005 and to find out what games I am referring to when I say that that some of the biggest games of today started life during these years.
