This is the first of 3 articles which were written about Leonarda during the last 15 years of Leonarda's life. Notably, Leonarda was 89 years old during this interview... and "yes," she still had another 15 years of life remaining then. She was interviewed a second time at age 99... and then again at 103 years old. Leonarda lived at 2020 Marconi Ave. in the Hill neighborhood until her death at age 104.

Perhaps you may be connecting a couple of the dots of this proud story. Leonarda is the great grandmother of Pinnacle's Chris and Pete Gianino. Leonarda immigrated to the United States from Sicily in 1913. Leonarda and her husband Pete moved into 2020 Marconi Ave. in 1922. Today, that same Marconi address serves as the headquarters for Pinnacle Home Loans. The oral rendition of the article about Leonarda was recorded in the same room where Chris and Pete visited with Great Grandma Gianino in the 1980s and 1990s as she humbly thanked God in broken English for her blessings.
