Mindfulness has had a huge effect on how I deal with my emotions. I wish I could be more mindful.

Just focus on your breath. If you start to understand the fundamentals of meditation, then you can just focus on your breath.
Just concentrating on the breathing in and out is the most basic form of meditation that brings you mindfulness.
