The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Cincinnati Reds 7-4 as the Phils’ bullpen surrendered 6 runs, 4 of them charged to SerAnthony Dominguez who pitched just 2/3 of an inning. That effort from the bullpen as well as the Phillies bats going just 4-for-16 with runners in scoring position wasted a solid start from Spencer Turnbull. The veteran righty tossed 5 innings of one run baseball in what was likely his last start of the season with Taijuan Walker returning to the rotation.

The loss also wasted a great night from Alec Bohm who went 4-for-4 on the evening with two runs batted in. Bohm raised his average to .337 on the season with a .430 on-base percentage.

Phillies manager Rob Thompson decided to go with a number of backups tonight for the second consecutive game facing lefty Nick Lodolo. Whitt Merrifield and Edmundo Sosa both went 2-for-4 while catcher Garrett Stubbs went 0-for-4. Nick Castellanos’ struggles continued as he went 0-for-5.

Phillies shortstop Trea Turner did have a hit in the game with a stolen base extending his consecutive stolen base streak to 41 straight bags stolen without being caught. However, in the 5th inning Turner was caught in a rundown between 3rd base and home and was tagged out. The play was officially scored as a caught stealing ending Turner streak.
