Can the SF Giants’ Youth Movement Salvage a (Very Likely) Lost Season?

Despite a resilient, home-run-fueled comeback win against the first-place Brewers, the San Francisco Giants' best efforts are likely too little too late. The Giants remain 5.5 games back of the Braves, whom they would lose to in the event of a tie, with just 29 games remaining. The SF Giants could go 20-9 the rest of the way and the Braves could go 15-15, and the Giants would still not pass the Braves in the standings.

However, that doesn't mean positives can't be taken away from this season. Breakout seasons by Heliot Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald are already very real positives to take away from 2024, and another young breakout could be happening before our eyes. With each passing day, Grant McCray seems to look more and more like he belongs in the majors. His 40.5% strikeout rate is much too high, but his speed, defense, athleticism, and power (he homered again in Tuesday's win) is certainly exciting for Giants fans.

Do you think the Giants' hitting strategy has kept them out of playoff contention? Their inability to hit with RISP and to score runs has cost them several games. There seems to be no emphasis on contact hitting to just put the ball in play. Ferocious swings, no results.

Not including making the playoffs, how else would you classify this year as successful? Do you see any other highly regarded prospects getting called up in September? Reggie Crawford, Carson Whisenhunt, etc.

I know Stephen Vogt was floated around as a potential choice for manager. Knowing what we know now would you want him or Bob Melvin? My understanding is that you have been pretty pro-Melvin, but not sure how much the recent mishaps with the bullpen have affected your views.
