Court ruling over Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia lawsuit to get another year of eligibility. He was at a Junior College and the ruling may mean that Junior college students can come to a 4 year school with 4 years of eligibility. Filed as an antitrust suit against the NCAA. Should the NCAA be able to create and enforce its own rules?
Round 1 Playoff Games:
1. Notre Dame Dominates Indiana. Indiana could not move the ball for the life of them. Kurtis Rourke could not find an open receiver. Was in his heels the entire game, and could not run the ball at all. Gotta hand it to Notre Dame’s defense. 17-3 going into half. Notre Dame did lay down in the 4th quarter, giving up 14 points, but to little to late for Indiana.
2. Penn state Routes SMU 38-10- 28-0 at one point. Ever CFB fan in America seemed to be up in arms at the performances of SMU. Clearly outmatched. Penn State’s defense had 3 interceptions in the first half. pSU only passed for 136 yards, but 3 interceptions is tough to come back from. Yards, time of possession and plays were not lopsided. The score obviously was.
3. Texas Beats Clemson- 38-24: best game of the weekend. The only competitive matchup. Klubnick passed for 336 yards. Solid performance. The difference was rushing yards. 76-292. The better QB was not Ewers, but Texas was able to shut down the running game of Clemson making them 1 dimensional.
4. Ohio State beats Tennessee- 42-17- most lopsided game, and I thought this game was gonna be the best of the 4. Nico Alphabet was shut down, 104 yards passing, 0 TD’s. Tennessee had no rushing attack. Ohio’s states defense just owned Josh Heupel’s offense. Will Howard threw for 311 yards. Both offense and defense were playing spectacular football, and Tennessee had no answer for them.
Question: Which Teams would have put up a better fight in the playoffs?
Question: next season Tennessee, SMU, Clemson, and Indiana will have a chance to compete for a playoff spot, will any of them be back?
Too many teams in the playoff, or the wrong formula for selecting the teams?
Where there any other bowl games that you really enjoyed watching so far?
