Conversation #17 : Deconstructing
Manage episode 371753144 series 3459715
This week, our team very candidly shared their own personal journeys through deconstruction.
The team shared a long list of resources- many of these podcasts, books, and songs can be found on our website under Favorites!
Phil Snider shared a quote by Anna Carter Florence,
“A wilderness holds within itself the promise of Canaan, and that promise keeps many of us going, but a wilderness also entails the hard work of exiting Egypt, and this is where the real wandering comes in. To leave behind the powers and authorities of a former existence. An enslaved and enslaving existence, is a slow and painful and impossible to accomplish in a few months. It takes years, maybe even 40 of them to leave yourself in order to find yourself. The process is not unlike the years of therapy that might accompany recovery.”
We end this podcast with affirmations for those who are in the grief or loneliness of deconstruction, those who are at the cusp of deconstructing, and those who are experiencing freedom within the deconstruction process.
If you need a space that provides community and friendship in a place of deconstruction, we invite you to join our Facebook Group Here!
Thanks for holding space with us :)
We hope you are able to find a safe, supportive community in your deconstructing because "no one deserves to deconstruct alone" as we mentioned during week 17. Our Flipped Table Theology Facebook group may be a starting place for you and we encourage anyone who is deconstructing or processing religious trauma to join.
The Flipped Table Theology Podcast is a production of The Flipped Table Collective. You can explore all of the resources, classes, events, and trainings that the Flipped Table Collective has to offer at www.flippedtablecollective.com.
