Heading into week one of the 2024 college football season, a lot of fans expect the top of the sport to be very predictable. After all, what are the odds that teams like Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon aren't left standing after the quarterfinals of the newly expanded College Football Playoff? And isn't the entire 12-team CFP field going to be taken from the same predictable group of teams as well?
As it turns out, history suggests that a 12-team College Football Playoff field would be incredibly unpredictable.
