In Southern California, many restaurants and other local business have been forced to close for three weeks. Church services need to be held out doors. Grocery store capacity is reduced to just 35 percent. In light of their designation as sovereign nations, many tribal casinos in this area remain open. This includes the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indian’s casino in Rancho Mirage.
Crypto Mining on The Rise in US Market
Mining Bitcoin (BTC) originated in the US with the use of simple computer technology. The need for specialized computer chips and larger banks of electricity changed the industry. The mining of BTC shifted to other countries, most notably China. Core Scientific is a US Bitcoin mining company looking to change the game. Based in Bellevue, Washington, the crypto start-up has BTC mining operations in North Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky. It has also raised close to $23 million to fuel the company’s expansion plans. A block of mined BTC comes in increments of 6.25. That equates to $125,000 given today’s BTC market prices.
Biloxi Casino Projects Turn to City Council For Support
A pair of new casino projects are looking for financial support from the Biloxi Council. The first is in East Biloxi on the site of the former Tivoli Hotel. They are looking to get the site approved for a casino by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. Biloxi Capital is also looking for tax breaks from the city. The other proposal is the Broadwater Casino in the western part of Biloxi. This group is looking for a tax increment financing bond up to $78 million. This would go towards improvements in the site’s infrastructure. The Biloxi Council already approved tourism tax rebate for Broadwater.
