When he fails, NERV's new Dummy Plug kicks in and brutally destroys the Eva with no regard for its captive pilot. Ashley and Luke watch on as Shinji is forced to strangle one of his closest friends, while Luke strangles HIMSELF with the rope he hung himself by with his consistently wrong prediction.
