The Irish Medtech Association is the business association within Ibec representing the medical technology sector. The Irish Medtech Association has more than 250 members located throughout the island of Ireland. The group’s broad focus is to promote and support an environment that encourages the sustainable development and profitable growth of FDI multinational and SME member companies. The Irish Medtech Association is led by a Board of CEOs and Chief Representatives.

The Irish Medtech Association delivers training and upskilling for the MedTech and engineering businesses in Ireland through apprenticeships, springboard programs, and Skillnets Networks.

Ireland is a Medtech success story with FDI multinationals and startups developing innovative medical technologies while adding investment and creating jobs across the country, with the sector being one of the most innovative in Europe, based on the number of patent applications filed with EPO.

Emer Sherry shares insights on the global success of the Medtech sector and some of the important areas that help support and grow the area internationally. Emer and Simon discuss innovation in Medtech, healthcare, and regulatory frameworks. We dive into the exciting area of Digital Health and the wider topic of digitalization.

An important area is sustainability, and Emer shares some information about the focus on advanced manufacturing processes and sustainability in this area. Ibec has The End-to-End Advanced Manufacturing Working Group, which brings together leading businesses to achieve the full potential of the cluster by building awareness of the value of discrete manufacturing industries, developing the existing manufacturing base with investments in Industry 4.0, and policies that support business growth—promoting collaborative relationships amongst stakeholders nationally and internationally.
