New data released by Statistics South Africa reveals that 2,6 million households experienced housebreakings or burglaries in the past 5 years

South Africans are not safe in their homes. That's according to a new data released by Statistics South Africa. Around 2,6 minion households experienced housebreakings or burglaries in the past 5 years. The experience of housebreaking has increased by 12% from the previous year. There is a decline in the sense of safety among individuals walking in their neighborhoods during the day and at night since 2019/20. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Stats SA's acting deputy-director general responsible for population and social statistics, Solly Molayi.
