128: Diego Ugalde Explains that Mistakes Are the Pathway to Growth

I invite guests to share personal stories about acts of leadership that help shape their lives. In Episode 127, Diego Ugalde shares a fable by Alan Watts, explains how walking among workers doesn’t give you the pulse of employees, and talks about a conversation that he had with his daughter.

Prologue

As a Navy SEAL, Diego Ugalde served three combat tours in Iraq. He participated in more than 250 highly classified combat and Advanced Special Operations missions. Now retired, Diego is the CEO of The Trident Approach. His team of current and former Navy SEALS teach the best of what they learned from their time in The Teams. They have a Deep Connection to the SELF and to Humanity.

01:03 Part 1: Using a Different Lens

Diego shares Alan Watt’s story, The Chinese Farmer, and explains why it affected his perspective.

10:42 Part 2: Do You Know Your Own Pulse?

Diego questions the claim that, by walking among cubicles, an executive can discover the pulse of his people. Diego explains why this is challenging and mythical.

19:47 Part 3: Mistakes, Curiosity, and Growth

Diego takes us on a journey from his attic to a conversation with his daughter and then a discussion about being human.
