In the pilot episode of the Trauma & Tribulation Podcast we are introduced to our host Ryley Hawthorne (he/him), a ex 4th generation Jehovah's Witness and his co-host best friend Willow Anderson (she/her) who has zero experience with the doomsday cult.
This episode is part one of a four part series going over the history of Jehovah's Witness leaders from the very beginning until the governing body members in 2024.
In episode one they start with William Miller, a farmer in New York who believed the book of revelation is to be taken literally and tried to predict the 'end of times'. Then Charles Taze Russell, the young haberdashery owner to printing press millionaire and founder of the Jehovah's Witness organization. Who in his spare time managed to get sued for selling miracle wheat, denied his ex-wife's alimony, and much more.
