Being a first generation American can be a culture shock to many. Dale Lacambacal is a first generation Asian American from the Philippines and came to America when he was only 8 years old. There was so much culture shock- such as the big yellow school busses kids took to school instead of white small vans, different food Dale brought to school, and how he made friends. Today, we discuss culture, childhood, and how Dale helped his family understand the American way of life. If you are Filipino, you will resonate with Dale from his realness and stories involving family. In this episode we chat about:
  • Culture identity growing up and how different it was moving to America
  • Asian Names and American Names
  • How friends were made growing up and the difficiulties of seeing them outside of school
  • Educating family on American culture and how difficult it was to change perspective
  • Experiencing Asian Hate and how it affected him
And so much more! Thank you Dale, for being vulnerable and sharing your experiences! ____________________________________________________________ What's new around Vegas?
