Know What You See with Brian Lowery

National Geographic photographer and conservationist Jaime Rojo has spent decades capturing the beauty and fragility of the monarch butterfly. Their epic migration is one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles, but their survival is under threat. In this episode, Jaime shares how his passion for photography and conservation led him to document the monarchs’ journey. He and host Brian Lowery discuss the deeper story behind his award-winning images, one about resilience, connection, and the urgent need to protect our natural world. See Jaime's story on the monarch butterflies at his website: rojovisuals.com , and follow Brian Lowery at knowwhatyousee.com .…

Commissioned by Cait Weiss Orcutt Stereo field recordings, ambisonic field recordings, violin, sampled cellos, text Cait's words were: Ohio, Husband, Veganaise. === Words to accompany the piece, to be read before, after, or while listening: Follow your heart. My wife cannot say Husband with a straight face She drawls: Huuuuusband. We’re not sure if it is too much Texas, or too much Dan Savage Even if it doesn’t fit me Her saying it lights up my heart. "We use vegetable proteins in place of eggs," explains Bob Goldberg What rolls off the tongue like a cheap substitute Is in fact more delicious. Forget healthier. It tastes Better. Follow your heart. There’s nothing I love more than the long drive from Chicago to the Farm Seated just to her right. Peach rings and sour gummy worms in the cup holder Harmonizing to Dave Carter and Tracey Grammer Eight hours and we’ll see them Follow your heart. Driving up the hill I always crank down the window Have every single time Leaning out for that big breath of fresh air Follow your heart. Find this near you: the experience that always refills your heart For me, a long weekend in Ohio Where I am held close The place I can leave and say No matter what happens this year I was here And my heart is full. The Museum at Tomorrow

Welcome to the second "season" of the Museum at Tomorrow and other stories! This season will be my "Quarantine Commissions" - roughly 5 minute audio essays that people commissioned in the early days of the COVID19 outbreak. Each person gave me three words to base a piece on- the following pieces are the result. I remain ecstatically grateful to everyone who commissioned a piece during that very difficult time. As an independent artist, these pieces allowed me to put food on the table and pay my bills at a time when other work suddenly disappeared. === Commissioned by Makena Levine Field recordings, archival show audio, voicemail recordings, and vocals by Betsey Palmer and Jeffrey Nils Gardner Makena's words were: Quarantine, Nostalgia, and Family.
