Yaakov Shwekey was born in Jerusalem. In his early years, Shewkey lived in the Bayit VeGan neighborhood of Jerusalem,[2] but he eventually moved to Polanco, Mexico City, and attended Yeshiva Ateret Yosef. He later lived in Lakewood, NJ, and Brooklyn, NY, and attended Yeshiva of Brooklyn before moving to Long Branch, NJ.
Yaakov Shwekey stormed into the Jewish music scene in 2001 with his debut solo album, Shomati, soaring to the top of the charts To date, he has released 13 albums and 3 DVDs. His latest album is "We Are a Miracle" which was just released Shwekey has headlined numerous concerts, including 2 Ceasaria concerts 2 beacon concerts, and 3 HASC concerts among his many hits are Rachem Meheroh ma ma ma Vhi Sheomdoh as well as mama Rochel and many more
Today we have an amazing, interesting, talented, and creative artist with us and a man with a massive, massive soul, the one and only Yaakov Shwekey. Yaakov launched a solo career in 2001 with his debut album, Shomati. He rose quickly to Jewish musical fame. Over the years, he's grown in popularity through his hit singles and albums, but also through the kindness that he does. And he's not alone in this. His wife, Janine, co-founded a special children's center in New Jersey servicing over 1000 families with children with special needs. Yaakov and I delve deep into his personal journey, lessons learned along the way, and the meaning behind some of his most popular songs. I hope you enjoy!
