December 2019/January 2020 - I spoke out loud that I wanted to start a podcast.
4 months of mind drama.
In April 2020, I released Episodes 1 & 2.
1 month of mind drama.
In May 2020, I released Episode 3.
3 weeks between Episodes 21 & 22.
6 months between Episodes 30 & 31.
9 weeks between Episodes 32 & 33.
Almost 5 months between Episodes 36 & 37.
From February on, I released 14 episodes. Today is number 50 and I feel like this podcast is just getting started.
In February 2022, I embraced the principles of Essentialism and Effortless by Greg McKeown and gave myself permission to drop the podcasting "rules" and make it my own -- learning, growing, and fine-tuning along the way. I knew I wanted to get better at releasing before I was ready and learning to show up imperfectly, knowing that doing so would help me to develop skills I wanted: deeper self-awareness, courage, fortitude, grit, determination, self-trust, resilience, mastery, the ability to create freedom and inner peace.
Episode 50 is not about the podcast, or even me. It's about the importance of letting go of all the "shoulds", questioning the "rules" you are using against yourself, putting on blinders when you need them so you can keep going, and skilling yourself up -- mentally, emotionally, and tactically -- so you no longer walk away from things that are important to you simply because you haven't yet cultivated the skill of working through the discomfort of not yet being at the level you want to be.
In this episode, I talk about the mindset that held me back, as well as some thoughts, tools, and insights that helped me grow into the person who values and gets excited by the learning that comes from starting imperfectly. (Thank you, Gary Vaynerchuk)
