Rachel Fulton Brown is Assoc Professor of History at the Univ of Chicago. She's been a student of the medieval devotion to the Virgin Mary for over thirty years. She is the author of From Judgment to Passion: Devotion to Christ and the Virgin Mary, 800-1200 (Columbia University Press, 2002). and coming: Mary and the Art of Prayer: The Hours of the Virgin in Medieval Christian Life and Thought, also with Columbia University Press. Professor Brown is also a fencer,representing the United States as a member of the Women's Foil Team at the World Veteran Fencing Championships this past October in Germany. Within her Fencing Bear at Prayer, she has been blogging these past six months about Milo and his Dangerous Faggot tour of American college campuses.
