Show Notes:

Ramit Sethi returns one year after everything changed forever to talk about how the pandemic has impacted the career and finance world. He’s the author of “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” and a personal development expert with a website that gets over a million monthly visits. We leverage his experience to talk about how money management has changed since the pandemic hit, what “K-shaped recovery” means, how job and career advice has changed, and whether or not you should be looking for a new job or house right now.

Question Highlights:

  • What is the biggest predictor of financial success?
  • What are the biggest changes in people’s finances that you’ve seen since the pandemic hit?
  • How has your advice changed in this post-pandemic economy?
  • What can people do today to change their outcome?
  • Why have you shifted to talking about the job scene?
  • What do you do when your partner is in a different career season?
  • What systemic changes can we make to align wages with the cost of living more effectively?

Guest Bio:

Ramit Sethi started iwillteachyoutoberich.com while studying technology and psychology at Stanford. Since he came from a middle-class family, the only way he could afford college was to pay his own way. That's when he built a system to apply to 60+ scholarships. His hard work paid off, and he earned enough to attend Stanford. But when he got his first scholarship check, he invested it in the stock market… and immediately lost half the money. Oops.

That's when he decided to learn how money really worked.

While studying psychology and human behavior at Stanford, he saw all these “tips” that financial experts kept throwing around — like “Keep a budget” and “Stop spending money on lattes” — and realized most of it made no sense. He also realized experts loved to tell people what to do...but nobody was actually doing it.

Instead of saying “no” to spending on everything, he wanted to use money to say YES. He knew there was a better way to live a rich life — if we could use psychology to focus on what actually works. Not just for personal finance, but all aspects of life: money, careers, relationships, business, fitness, and more.

Since then, he’s been testing and sharing his findings with the world via I Will Teach You To Be Rich.

He has also written a New York Times bestselling book, been profiled in a 6-page Fortune article and pictured next to Warren Buffett in Forbes Magazine. He has been featured by a long list of media, including the Wall Street Journal, ABC News, NPR, Fox Business, PBS, CNBC, and more. He also has more documented success stories than anyone else he knows — more than 20,000 at last count.
