Keep running! (Minute Message)

I recently spent a lot of time watching the Olympics and the amazing athletes that participated. I watched many track and field events and was always in awe of the runners and their speed, endurance, and tenacity. When I watched them race it got me thinking about how we each run our own race, even if it’s not on an Olympic stage.

Hi, I’m Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

Hebrews 12:1-2 says “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Each of us runs our own race. Your race looks different than anyone else around you, because your story and your gifts and your relationship with God are unique, they are unlike anyone else. This is our one and only life and the one and only chance we get to run our race.

When you feel like quitting, persevere and stay on track. If you stumble or fall or trip over a hurdle, get up and fix your eyes on Jesus. Our gold medal comes when we enter the gates of heaven. And because of Jesus, we all have the opportunity to win gold. Keep running your race and pursuing God, and trust that he is with you every step of the way.
