News had spread among "the apostles and brethren" that the Gentiles had also received the word of God (Acts 10:1), but not everyone was happy." This sermon begins with Abraham, and it closes with the persecution of the prophets who proclaimed the coming of the "Just One(Acts 7:52)." In this chapter seven holy men of God would be chosen to serve tables. At the end of the chapter, we see one man Stephen who would be falsely accused of blasphemy. In the next chapter we will Stephen's defense not of himself, but of his faith.
In this chapter we will see a church that was unstoppable. When sin crept into the church, it was removed. Then there came outside oppostion, which tried to silence them. Peter and the other apostles said, "We ought to obey God rather than men(Acts 5:29)."
