Why was this American Goddess forgotten and have we damaged ourselves in doing so when we left her behind? Did we leave part of ourselves behind? Columbia represented the concept and idea of the birth of what was once a beautiful, new, incredible country that wanted to be the beacon, the light on the hill. Created at the inception of the country, she was beloved in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in the United States of America. Named after Christopher Columbus, Columbia was the first American Goddess who faded out of history in the early twentieth century. Once a Goddess who led the battlecries in the American Revolution, “Hail Columbia” was sung and spoken for centuries. The District of Columbia is named after her but why is she not revered and celebrated anymore? We need her blessings now more than ever. Let’s bring her back! Do you want to connect with April? Join April and Maggie as they address a listener’s question about a Goddess with one eye open and one eye sewn shut. Explore the power of sight in the physical and metaphysical realms as the witches explore the Graea, Lamia, and Manasa, who are all connected to the power of the serpent energy. Does the sight of a goddess need gatekeeping and what power is meant for the eyes of humanity? The Graea shared one eye and one tooth amongst the three demi-goddesses. They revealed the location of their half-sister, Medusa, one of the Gorgons. Perseus stole their one eye to obtain the whereabouts of Medusa, leading to her demise. Lamia became the goddess of everyone’s nightmares after receiving the Gift of Prophecy and the ability to remove her eyes and reinsert them at will. Manasa cured Shiva of a dangerous poison after having an eye burnt out by a jealous concubine. What do these goddesses have in common? They all have connections to the serpents and to the eyes. Could some of the ancient serpent energy be likened to our star family when the goddess appears as half human, half snake? Join April and Maggie for a riveting discussion about the Serpent as we celebrate Yule with her energy of letting go and regeneration. As the wheel turns, we hibernate into the darkness at this time of year and use her wise energy for healing. After Gilgamesh turns down the advances of the Goddess Innana, she sends the Bull of Heaven to destroy him. However, the Bull of Heaven is killed during an epic seven day battle. Innana decides to descend to the underworld to talk with her sister, Ereshkigal, the Queen of the Underworld and the widow of the Bull of Heaven. Inanna is stripped of her seven divine powers and presents herself naked and bowed at the feet of her sister. After being killed and hung up on a meat hook, she is brought back to life through a series of synchronistic events. She emerges and escapes the underworld. However, no one escapes the underworld without a replacement. When Inanna finds her lover, Dumuzi, he is not mourning her loss. She allows the demons to take him in her place in the underworld. Dumuzi’s twin sister volunteers to take his place half the year, hence a representation of the Fall Equinox in the descent into the shadow. Join April and Maggie as they dive into magickal tattoos of their practice and of history. Amunet is a mummy that was discovered close to 2000 BCE. She is believed to be the High Priestess of a group of priestesses to the goddess Hathor that were found in Thebes together. When archeologists performed x-rays on the mummies, they were found to have concentric circles, lines, and dots, a lot of them around their abdomen and groin area, which they believe had to do with the sacred birth and a relationship to Hathor being the Goddess of earth and motherhood. The oldest tattoos that have been discovered are from a caveman named, Otzi. He has 61 tattoos which appear to have been very specifically and intentionally placed. The tattoos are believed to be ceremonial healing tattoos. Would you get a power tattoo for healing?
