Welcome to another insightful episode of the WHAT THE PR!V*CY. Today, Andrew is joined by Alejandro Fernández-Cernuda Díaz, whose journey from Linguistics and International Relations to the forefront of cybersecurity is nothing short of remarkable.
Alejandro's foray into the world of cybersecurity began in 2007 when he transitioned to the security department of CaixaBank as a corporate intelligence analyst. His innate ability to engage and build institutional relationships brought him to cybersecurity a year later, where, he ended up leading @APWG's efforts to establish a European footprint, an initiative that the institution was supporting directly.
His expertise and leadership didn't go unnoticed. In 2019, Alejandro embarked on a new chapter as the Director of Communications and Marketing at the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA). His efforts were instrumental in internationalising GCA's message, particularly through initiatives like translating the Small Business Toolkit into multiple languages and adapting communication campaigns for diverse audiences.
Alejandro's role has continued to evolve, and since 2021, he has served as the Director of Engagement for GCA's Internet Integrity Program. In this capacity, he spearheads initiatives such as Domain Trust and AIDE, focusing on domain abuse and IoT security. Additionally, Alejandro oversees the alignment of engagement activities for MANRS, a global initiative on routing security, with the broader mission of the Internet Integrity Program.
His current endeavours involve forging partnerships and cultivating communities of action to address critical issues impacting the integrity of the internet. Join us as we delve into Alejandro's journey and explore his efforts to safeguard the digital landscape for future generations.
