For those of you frustrated about Spotify switching payments only to tracks over 1000 plays - I hope this podcast offers some new perspective for you!
Especially for indie artists - there has never been a better time to record and release music, and you all know names of various artists who got their break by creating content/sharing themselves and their music on platforms like YouTube and the likes.
In my perspective - Spotify has become a similar platform and opportunity to do the same with your music and creations whilst reaching a global audience.
Would it be good if Spotify paid great $$ for streams - of course! But check in (yes right now) if you're complaining about streaming dollars only as an excuse not to create and share your music with the world. Huh? If you've genuinely released more than 1 album in the last 6 months and spent over 20-30 hours each week on creating it and releasing it and marketing it (or hiring others to market it for you), and you're concerned about not getting traction and an income from it then lets chat. And if you haven't - you can relax knowing that you're not doing the work to make an income from this particular format anyway.
