14. Post-Winter Break Expectations Reset
Manage episode 390807697 series 3505733
In this episode, we discuss the importance of refreshing expectations after the winter break. As teachers, we shouldn't assume that everything will be fine when students return to school, so it's crucial to proactively remind them about the classroom expectations to avoid behavior problems. I suggest starting the first day back by reviewing and reinforcing the expectations and routines. This can be done through engaging games or activities that visually and verbally remind students about the class promises. Additionally, it's beneficial to give students the opportunity to share about their vacation experiences before diving into academic areas.
In this episode I share:
- Setting expectations for the return from vacation
- Reinforcing class promises and routines
- Focusing on routines and expectations in academic areas
