Sheaf Valley: a show about Sheffield's startups is a podcast dedicated to increasing the visibility of Sheffield's startup ecosystem and the connectedness between the different parts of it while delivering value to the listener every episode.

In this episode I spoke with Juri Knjazev from Alarmonit, a startup focused on developing the application of computer vision and AI for CCTV and security cameras. Juri studied Law in university but his interest towards technology and natural desire to solve problems every day led him to build a number of businesses with Alarmonit being his first SAAS.

Juri talks about the security industry and how computer vision can radically change the application of cameras, expanding their features to more than just observing and recording. He also shared what he thinks are the most useful traits a law student brings into the field of business.

Notes from the show:

  1. Listen to Tom Oates from MyDaas, Joshua Faichney from Mealbase or Lei Nicandro talking about Startup Weekend - the first 3 episodes of season 2
  2. Get your free tickets for Startup Meetup Sheffield and come meet Sheffield's startup ecosystem
  3. Fill out this form to help me understand what you think Sheffield's startup ecosystem needs
  4. Get your super early bird tickets (£20!) for Startup Weekend Sheffield here
  5. Check out Startup Stash and find a tool that will help your startup
  6. Check out Sorare, Vestiarie Collective, Mirakl and Sunday - the 4 French companies I discuss in the podcast
  7. Check out Tickets for Good and Tutorful - the two brilliant Sheffield-based startups I spoke about in the local shout out
  8. Listen to the episode I recorded with Steve Rimmer, the founder of Tickets For Good or donate to The Ticket Fund
  9. Read more about the book of the week 'What you do is who you are' by Ben Horowitz

Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast wherever you're listening or to the official Sheaf Valley twitter page, connect with me on LinkedIn or you can also donate to this independent podcast here.

Thank you for listening and let's keep connecting Sheffield's startup ecosystem one episode at a time.
