Jill was doing cartwheels and dancing a jig as soon as she found out who this week's guest is. Baker Bettie, the internet's favorite baking educator and food science geek, is Jill's holy grail guest. Throughout the interview, she could hardly contain herself. It's wonderfully endearing, to say the least. Bettie, whose real name is Kristin Hoffman, is a trained chef. She actually went to cooking school (as opposed to pastry school, which is a thing??) She's been using the internet to teach the masses the why's of baking since 2011, but only in the last few years has made it her full-time job. You may be wondering what baking has to do with a podcast about collecting antiques. The answer, and reason why Jill is so beyond hyped, is Pyrex. Bettie has a passion for Pyrex and vintage kitchen gear that may rival even Jill herself. Bettie and the Mavens chat about different rare patterns, cake decorating, Pyrex hunting tips, and haunted houses. The estate sale walkthrough is especially brutal this week, and may eventually get Sam thrown into Dante's Inferno. Don't forget to keep an eye out later this year for Bettie's new cookbook.
