We'd love to hear from you! Send us a text!

One of our favorite things about Solomon is that he doesn’t just give us advice without being practical about it. In Chapter 9, once again he gives us the reasons why we should be invited by “wisdom,” but he also tells us why we should not accept an invitation by “folly.” That is just who God is. He is so for us that He wants us to see both choices we have, and the consequences that follow—be it good or bad. He loves us enough to show us both sides of the coin, as if not to hide anything from us. If you keep reading in Proverbs, God gives us everything we need to know about wisdom through Solomon. When I was a child or even teen, these passages gave me so much help to keep going in a tough world and not to give up. May they do the same for you…comfort you, lead you, motivate you, inspire you!
BE IN THE WORD (This Week’s Verses):
“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” (Proverbs 9:9)
BE EDUCATED (Additional Resources):
  1. The Book of Proverbs: Wisdom verses Stupidity
  2. Wisdom's Feast and Folly's Funeral
BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS (Practical Application):
  1. Create your own wisdom and folly lists. What seems like wisdom to you? What seems like folly? Can you back them up with scripture?
  2. Are you teachable? Ask yourself that very hard question. How do you react with criticism? Next time someone gives you feedback, take a moment and ask the Lord to help you receive it before you react to it.
