Mindfulness and its potential to drive security performance: what are the opportunities and drawbacks
Manage episode 417916909 series 3572864
Mindfulness and meditation have become centre stage in strategies used by organisations as diverse as the military, business, sports and prisons to help people better understand themselves – by better managing their inner self – as a route to enabling people to live more satisfactorily. The benefit to business is obvious; it has the potential to drive up performance. Some argue this is to misunderstand its purpose others see it as a much-needed skillset with the potential to make a real positive difference to behaviour. In the security sector where leaders can find themselves in pressurised and crisis situations and those on the frontline may have to de-escalate violence the relevance is poignant. In this webinar we will discuss:
What is the potential of mindfulness to improve performance and reactions in the security sector?
What is distinct about mindfulness that makes it attractive?
What are the drawbacks and how can they be managed?
Panellists:
Dr. Rodney King PhD, M.A., RSME, M.ISRM – Founder of Primal Skillz: The Art of Self-Reliance (Singapore)
