Pastor Paula continues her sermon series on the Lord's Prayer with the phrase "Hallowed Be Thy Name." The prayer opens with a focus on the intimacy of a relationship with a God who invites us to call on God as "Abba" or "Daddy." However, it immediately also reminds us of the fact that our God is also holy. By reflecting on the "otherness" of God, we can understand that our God, who created the world, is not ours to control, but one who has power and might and yet desires to be in relationship with us. By reflecting on this and what it means to be able to call upon that God, we can learn how to keep God's name Holy.
Opening; Scriptures-1:50; Message-5:13; Song "Holy, Holy, Holy" 16:50; Community Connection-19;22; Closing-23:15
Scripture Texts- Psalm 145:1-13 The Inclusive Psalter; Joel 2:28-32 New Revised Standard Version; Rev. 15:1-4-New Revised Standard Version;
UNTITLED POEM BY DAG HAMMARSKJOLD
Have mercy

Upon us.

Have mercy

Upon our efforts,

That we

Before Thee,

In love and in faith,

Righteousness and humility,

May follow Thee,

With self-denial, steadfastness and courage,

And meet Thee

In the silence.

Give us

A pure heart

That we may see Thee,

A humble heart

That we may hear Thee,

A heart of love

That we may serve Thee,

A heart of faith

That we may live Thee,

Thou

Whom I do not know

But Whose I am.

Thou

Whom I od not comprehend

But Who has dedicated me

To my destiny

Thou –
