National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was post-interviewed a second time by Zehra Mamdani for Columbia News Service, on March 4, 2008. This is Part 6 of the second post-interview. It follows after an article she had written as a student for the Columbia News Service, from interviews she had conducted with Mark Henkel earlier in January of that year. The article contained many negativities to be corrected. So, the writer agreed to Mark Henkel’s request to conduct an initial post-interview on February 26, 2008. She and Mark Henkel also agreed to have a second post-interview later, which they conducted on March 4, 2008. This episode is the sixth part of that second discussion. In this Part 6 segment, Mark repeatedly clarified that, not one thing but, a number of different things had happened over the course of 2006 and 2007 which were all contributory to the growth of the movement, of his organization’s membership, and of its website’s hits. The writer kept trying to suggest the growth was exclusively connected to the Warren Jeffs capture in August of 2006. Mark Henkel explained that additional factors from HBO’s “Big Love” in Spring of 2006, the Holm case going to the Supreme Court in January 2007, Season Two of “Big Love” in Spring of 2007, and more were also additional contributory portions to his reference to the movement’s growth as of Summer 2007 - not 2006. The movement’s growth was not connected to Warren Jeffs, as her article had previously seemed to imply. Mark Henkel concluded, “That’s why I am not being semantical. It really is important.” The remaining parts of the second post-interview will be aired in the next coming episodes of this podcast.
