[5:51] Most participants double or triple their reading speed while maintaining or improving comprehension. [5:55] Speed reading techniques include relaxing eye focus and pacing. [9:39] Regression and sub-vocalization slow reading, with tips to overcome these habits. [13:39] How do you test comprehension and memory? . [13:44] Retelling improves memory retention, supported by research on repeated recall strengthening pathways. Nina Sunday explains, "I came across the principle of memory which is recall of an item of information increases the likelihood of subsequent recall. And what how it was explained. It's like for each recall of an item of information, the brain cell connections or the brain pathway is being created. And so each time you recall that same item of information, it travels down the same pathway in the brain. We've got an unlimited number of pathways, but creating the neuronal pathway for that item of information, makes it more likely to be subsequently recalled. In other words, we remember what we have remembered; and the act of recall creates the brain cell connections. Brain cells that fire together, wire together. Retelling serves as a memory aid, and also a test for how well you remembered and understood the information." [17:14] Benefits of speed reading for personal and professional life, emphasizing lifelong learning. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices…

Bruce has a unique approach to handling performance conversations to foster accountability. His method is a game-changer for addressing behaviour with a less than positive impact on building a positive workplace culture. An eye-opening moment? Bruce's perspective on "avoiding conflict leads to resentment." This hit home, especially with a personal story shared about an office restructure to avoid a difficult conversation. But it's not all about challenges - we also explored the power of gratitude in leadership. The discussion on the "paradox of generosity" was truly enlightening and has already changed how I approach my team interactions. Key takeaways that left me inspired: • The magic of being "more curious, less critical" 🧠 • Practical tips for addressing workplace behaviour effectively • Strategies to combat cynicism and reframe negative mindsets If you're a leader looking to level up your communication skills and team dynamics, this episode is a must-listen. 🚀Find the "Manage Self, Lead Others" show on your favourite podcast app - trust me, it's worth every minute. The attitude of a manager - "I'm paying you to do the job you're paid to do; you don't need to know the big picture"? [8:57 - 9:12] "What story turns a prospect into a customer?" [11:12 - 11:23] "Origin stories . . . Is it more important for team members working in the business vs. with prospects to turn them into customers?" [22:23 - 22:49] Gina: Highlights the value of integrating customer success stories into every piece of communication, from testimonials to case studies. [22:49] Nina: Mentions the potential of showcasing customer stories on a company website. At discussion end, Dan confided that this episode was the best we’ve ever done. The conversation was “like butter” (i.e. super smooth and effortless). "I now do John Kennedy's brain training before every podcast episode to give me that extra mental sharpness; only takes 90 seconds. “Recently I had an “oh no” feeling, faced with having to go through a client contract of 14 pages before signing it. Dan Silberberg talks about the Multi-dimensional Leadership. [10:00] If we are in an ecosystem and with peer to peer accountability, we are self-managed. We discover more unknown, unknowns. We uncover more unconscious biases. This is the way we've always done it. I've been here longer. This is how we do everything. Once you corporatized me, you've lost the genius that you hired. [21:51] To view the Slideshow go HERE : [ 37:51 ] "And when I start to see the brilliant genius and gift in others, guess what? I get to see it in myself. Exactly. And now I can also we all experience, this is the collective that I believe is missing in the world of zero sum game. "That's the three-dimensional world - I win, you lose, I get promoted. You don't. This is a whole different way of acting. And so I think it's, it's really important. And then the other part of it is that we will work with you on your business issues. "So coming out of global billion dollar publicly traded multinational companies having done global turnarounds of brands, having done five start-ups, having a tech background with EDS and oracle, having a consulting background in Mckinsey methodology and a T Carney. I've seen a lot of movies, but then we also have other people who come in with business expertise that you get the benefit of. "So it's a very dynamic um environment. "So that's one council and the other council that I have is what I'm calling the leader operating system. And this is where we work with vice presidents, managers, directors, people who aspire to the C suite. Most startups fail not because of a bad product, poor timing, or mismanaged cash, but because of people problems: conflicts over strategy, decision-making, and team culture. Even the smartest entrepreneurs have been derailed by soft problems: • How do you fire a loyal friend who’s not up to par? • How do you motivate your team to give their all? • What happens when egos and emotions overpower facts and reason? Martin Gonzalez co-authored ''The Bonfire Moment'' with Josh Yellin; the book launches today. https://amzn.to/3UYnMPQ To view this episode on YouTube go HERE: https://youtu.be/qOTcFbJEyeA To visit the YouTube channel go HERE: https://www.youtube.com/@manageselfleadotherspodcast?sub_confirmation=1 === 7 key strategies are cornerstones of The Bonfire Moment feedback structure: 1 Treat people like volunteers 2 Protect the team from distractions 3 Invite disagreement 4 Minimize unnecessary micromanagement 5 Preserve interpersonal equity 6 Keep pace with expertise 7 Overcome discouragement === 4 TRAPS – The trap of Speed The trap of the Inner Circle The trap of the Maverick Mindset The trap of Confidence Why maverick ideas can lead startups into trouble? What are the 6 most common maverick beliefs? 1. The myth of equal equity: Co-founders should receive equal equity in return for equal commitment and equal contributions. 2. The myth of shared command: Power and decision-making should be shared equally among cofounders. 3. The myth of scaling without hierarchy: Layers of management should be avoided as the company grows, because they create bureaucracy and slow progress. 4. The myth of structural harmony: Disputes between functional roles represent a failure point that should be fixed. 5. The myth of conflict-free growth. A strong culture should be able to minimize or even prevent all interpersonal conflict, even as the team grows. 6. AI's next inflection point is from employee experimentation to organizational transformation. This episode is with CEO and industry expert, Michelle Tinsley. You can watch the YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/6RbqomCkCfw TALKING POINTS [1:39] What do you find teams are not doing that they should be doing with AI implementation? [5:51] How can organizations benefit by becoming early adopters, and how can they use that expertise to become industry role models? [6:38 ]How do you address customer complaints about stock shortages when managing multiple warehouses across the country? [8:53] Who is the right person in my company to speak with your team for an assessment? [9:15] How can we get in touch with you? [10:50] A lot of times we're brought in by the CEO or the COO because they see where productivity can be gained. They have that owner's philosophy of, I've got to transform my company or I won't be here in 4 to 6 years. [11:09] What are the challenges when businesses store their data in the cloud? [11:16] How does a modern cloud architecture, such as a centralized data warehouse, make accessing data easier? Are the APIs ready to be tapped into, or do new secure portals need to be created to access the data? Do we have to create secure APIs to get out the data? [11:46] Can I just share with you a quote by Seth Godin.? ‘’AI is the biggest change in our world since the invention of electricity, a bigger change than the internet. If you're not using it for half an hour a day, you don't understand. You should. You need to put it on your calendar and go use it. Let that sink in for a moment.’’ [14:55] One of the tactics for innovation is to identify the top 20% of constraints hindering progress, the roadblocks. If you were going to consult with somebody from an organization, what would be the first question you would ask them? What are your pain points? Where are you losing yield? Where are you losing time? [15:58] How might fear prevent people from moving forward thinking that AI is going to replace them? [20:01] Let's close with another case study to the listener visualize what it is we can do to be in alignment with the AI revolution. === ABOUT MICHELLE TINSLEY, CEO, Sciata LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelle-tinsley/ Sciata https://www.sciata.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/sciata/ Sciata brings more than a decade of experience providing specialists and custom software and analytics to accelerate change within organizations. === ABOUT PODCAST HOST, NINA SUNDAY To learn more about face-to-face training programs with Nina Sunday or one of the experienced Facilitators from Brainpower Training Pty Ltd in Australia Pacific, visit: https://www.brainpowertraining.com.au/signature-programs/ To visit Nina Sunday's speaker site for global in-person speaking bookings visit: https://www.ninasunday.com/ Connect with Nina Sunday on LinkedIn HERE: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ninasunday/ To subscribe to Nina Sunday's personal blog go to https://www.brainpowertraining.com.au/ and scroll to bottom of the page to register.
