Grief is so intertwined with so many parts of our life that it can get lost in the day to day. It impacts us in such a way that we often, without really knowing why, are just getting by. Be patient with yourselves, and others. The grieving process has no timeline. Some losses you will process and move through within a few weeks. Other losses will stay with you for a long time, many years in some cases.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Ways to move through the grieving process:

  • Acknowledge your pain.
  • Accept that grief can trigger many different and unexpected emotions.
  • Understand that your grieving process will be unique to you.
  • Seek out face-to-face support from people who care about you.
  • Support yourself emotionally by taking care of yourself physically.
  • Recognize the difference between grief and depression.

BEST MOMENTS

Grief is the language that love speaks after loss. - John Mark Green

There is a sacredness in tears. - Washington Irving

Grief is not a feeling; it is a capacity. It is not something that disables you, we are not on the receiving end of grief we are on the practicing end of grief. - Stephen Jenkinson

What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. –Helen Keller
