Two men plead guilty to 2023 shooting of 5-year-old and his grandfather

Two men charged with shooting a 5-year-old boy and his grandfather at a Philadelphia gas station last summer have pleaded guilty to some offenses in a deal with prosecutors.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Antwan Grimes, 23-year-old Keon Smith, and two others shot at a car more than five dozen times last June — and struck another car carrying the little boy and his grandfather who were with the boy’s father.

The child was shot in the arm. His 71-year-old grandfather was critically injured and is still recovering.

Grimes and Smith pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and conspiracy - attempted murder and the rest of the more than a dozen charges were dismissed.

Each were sentenced to 7 1/2 to 15 years behind bars.
