Lack of measurable rainfall puts South Jersey in severe drought watch

We are in desperate need of rain. The last time we got any measurable rainfall was 23 days ago. That's one of the top 10 longest dry stretches on record. The longest stretch was 29 days back in 1874. Most of our area is in a moderate drought, but parts of South Jersey are in a severe drought. Because of the dry conditions, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service is implementing fire restrictions. All fires in wooded areas will be prohibited unless contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, gas or electricity. And, no charcoal fires are allowed. Gov.
