Usually there is a lot of mistrust in the West regarding the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), perceiving the formation as a tool of China and Russia for building an anti-US alliance or as a potential Eastern equivalent of NATO. In this podcast our guest was Dr. Athar Zafar, the Head of SCO Study Centre at the Indian Council of World Affairs. Dr. Zafar gave a deeper insight into the functioning and the evolution of the SCO, shared his opinion on the present role of SCO in today’s global and Eurasian geopolitical structure and also expressed his view on the typical Western narratives regarding the formation.
